You know supplier negotiations are your job. You know you’re expected to put thousands of pounds back into your employer’s pockets. Still, a single “well done” might be nice.
Tough luck. If stakeholders are gracious enough to offer you feedback, it’s often negative. When they have great ideas, and you attempt to qualify those ideas with logical questions (because it’s your job to calculate what’s affordable)… you’re the enemy.
Your diligence is frequently misinterpreted as dream-killing. And, to add insult to injury, you watch the sales team get showered in champagne for bringing in less money than you’ve saved.
We both know you’re capable. You’re good with numbers. Your practical knowledge is impressive. But your peers, managers, and stakeholders still can’t recognise your value. So your technical skills can’t be the problem here. That’s because it’s your soft skills that need overhauling.
With the Procurement Soft Skills Mastery course (PSSM), you’ll learn how to speak to stakeholders and earn their respect. You’ll learn how to relate with colleagues, and build rapport with your managers. We’ll develop your emotional intelligence, and your empathy will shape better ideas. Within 10 weeks, you’ll become the strategic partner everyone wants at their table.
It’s time to prove you’re more than a cost-cutter. Let’s make it happen together.
If you aren’t 100% satisfied with the course in the first 30 days, you get your money back.
Let’s get down to the nitty gritty. Here’s a breakdown of the weekly online workshops that’ll take you from an overlooked ‘cost-cutter’ to a valued strategic partner.
FYI: You’ll learn in a live, group format on a weekly Zoom call. These usually take place at 7:30pm (GMT or BST) on Mondays, but you will receive specific dates and times for your cohort. You can request these dates from Tom in advance (by emailing tommills@procurebites.com) if you have concerns about your availability. Sessions will be recorded, so you can catch-up if you miss one.
To start, let’s get all the boring admin out of the way! Your onboarding call will introduce the course & community platform, so you know how to access the sessions and stay in touch with one another.
With your first module, we’ll immediately increase your confidence at work by identifying your soft skills, and where your strengths lie. Think of this session as brushing up on the basics.
In module two, you’re going to learn how your soft skills impact others. Together, we’ll figure out how to get suppliers and stakeholders on your side – putting your new knowledge into practice.
Now we’re at module three, you’ll determine how to adjust your soft skills depending on who you’re speaking to – and the channel you’re using. Whether you’re meeting suppliers on Zoom or your colleagues in real life, you’ll adapt your behaviour like a pro.
Module four will be your most impactful lesson yet: how to deescalate. Even when you softly deliver bad news to stakeholders, it can unfurl into confrontation. After this session, you’ll know how to calmly resolve conflict with anybody – before it gets cruel.
Next with module five, we’ll build your resilience. Personal resilience will protect you from losing yourself to illness or negative circumstances outside of work – and professional resilience will protect you from losing your passion for procurement when you face setbacks.
With module six, you’re going to become an expert negotiation planner. Using Tom’s VPN method, you’ll reduce the emotional toll negotiating takes – and get better deals. You’ll also learn how ‘influencing’ makes negotiation easier, so you can loosen up and enjoy the boardroom.
In module seven, you’ll learn how to use procurement strategy to help stakeholders make executive decisions. Procurement is typically reactive, waiting for other departments and their problems to determine its focus, so it can’t lead decisions. You’re going to change that.
Module eight focuses on protecting your career with networking – but you don’t need to be an extrovert. Even if you dread networking, we’ll find an online or offline method to suit you best, and you’ll have fresh confidence to make connections who can guide you through anything.
In module nine, the focus is getting you promoted and/or earning more – without sacrificing the ability to switch off. You’ll learn how to use proactivity and emotional intelligence to earn more money and more opportunities, without letting stress rob you of family & friend time.
We’ve made it to module ten, and it’s time to wrap everything up. We’ll start with a mastery refresh, then you’ll learn Tom’s most advanced leadership tips and a final framework (M.A.S.T.) to lead stakeholders who refuse to follow official process. Now you’re a soft skills expert!
FYI: These weekly workshops will be recorded and broken down into the smaller lessons we’ve bullet-pointed, and added to a library. You’ll have access to that library forever. The onboarding call will cover how you can restudy previous sessions.
PLUS: You will also gain exclusive access to Tom’s most-loved templates & resources that he provides as part of the curriculum.

“His approach was hugely engaging with plenty of interaction. He tackled a big topic – AI in Procurement – challenging us to think beyond current conventions. But Tom’s emphasis on the how people skills remain essential kept us grounded in reality. He delivered an inspiring session, sending the audience into the coffee break with a real buzz of conversation. Exactly what you want from a keynote.”

That being said, he’s proud to note that nobody has ever wanted a refund.
Please email Tom at tommills@procurebites.com. Since responding to students is one of his highest priorities, Tom always aims to reply within 24 hours – though it’s often pretty immediate!

Right now, it probably feels like you’re last in the loop. You’re left out of management meetings. You’re only brought in on big ideas to check if the business can afford it. You’re an afterthought, a last minute hurdle. Never a decision maker.
I’ve been there. I understand how aggravatingly frustrating it is.
I know if you were given the chance, you’d be an incredible decision maker. An asset in business strategy. You understand financial trends. You know where money is, and where it goes. Your expertise could be the ticket to the jackpot for stakeholders, if only you could elbow your way into the boardroom.
This course is designed to get you into that boardroom. This course is designed to help you fulfil your potential, and earn the respect you deserve. Together, we’re going to take you from an overlooked ‘cost-cutter’ to a valued strategic partner.
Let’s get started.
