Who is Tom Mills?
I’ve always loved numbers. As I grew up, it felt natural that calculating would become my job. I’d counted on it.
What I didn’t count on, though, was how deeply unhappy I’d be in my procurement job. It was less maths, and more tentatively negotiating with suppliers to cut costs.
School didn’t prepare me for that. I had to learn communication skills, and other soft skills, on my own. The stress drove me to quit. Twice.
